Soon after four surgeries to maintenance nerve damage to his ft, Smits underwent intense back operation in November 2009 to right cracks in a single joint that connection his vertebrae. Smits has also undergone arthroscopic operation on his left knee and had bone chips faraway from his left ankle.[5
